Genesis Chapter 6:

Genesis 6:1 - And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,

The Hebrew word translated "men" in this verse is actually 'Ha-adam', and it refers to Adam. This establishes the lineage and race we're referring to.

Genesis 6:2 - That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

The Hebrew phrase "Beney HaElohiym", which is translated "sons of God" refers to the fallen angels. The word translated "men" is also "Ha-adam", as mentioned above in verse 1, and it refers to Adam. Thus, this further establishes the race and lineage that is being singled out in this chapter. It was also through this intermixing of the fallen angels and the daughters of Adam that lead to the flood of Noah comming about, as we shall see made clear in the rest of this chapter.

Genesis 6:3 - And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

Once again the word translated "man" is "Ha-adam". I see the penmanship of a kenite in the translating of this chapter. There is one point that should be noted. This verse dates when the flood occured. It stipulates in this verse that Adam's days shall be 120 years. We know from Genesis chapter 5 that Adam lived to be 939 years old. Thus, subtracting 120 from 930 we get 810. Therefore, Adam was 810 at this point. If we take Arch Bishop Usser's dating of Adam's creation to 4004 B.C. as being correct, then the year was 3194 B.C. when this was decreed by God. If Adam died in the flood of Noah, then the flood would have occured 120 years after this date, and thus the flood would have occured around the year 3074 B.C.

Genesis 6:4 - There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

The word translated "giants" is "nephilim" in Hebrew, and it comes form the prime root "naphal", which means "to fall". Thus, this is referring to the fallen angels, and their offspring. This is further documented in this verse, for we're told in this verse these "giants" came to be as a result of the sons of God going into the daughters of Adam (not "men" as the English so leads one to believe, for the Hebrew is once again Ha-adam).

Now, lets pause for a moment. What we see so far is that the fallen angels have taken the daughters of Adam (not men) to wife, and that they have born these unnatural giant offspring to them. This pinpoints which race was directly effected by the fallen angels, and it also pinpoints was the true root of the iniquity in the days of Noah was.

Genesis 6:5 - And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

I'm sure with the fallen angels and their giant offspring being present the "wickedness" was great in those days. The Bible doesn't speak much more on this subject here, but the pseudopigraphal book of I Enoch speaks a great deal on this. While not a cannonized Bible the book of Enoch delves into much detail about these "fallen watchers", and their giant offspring. I recommend every serious Bible student give it at least one read.

The word translated "man" once again is "Ha-adam". I need not explain this anymore. It was Adam's race once again that is being discussed here. The Hebrew word translated "earth" is "erets" in Hebrew, although it can have the meaning of "the whole earth", still, more often than not it is used in the Old Testament to refer to a specific geographical region or particular land. If you don't believe me, get out a Strong's concordance, and check out how many times the word translated "land" is actually "erets" in Hebrew. I'll even give you one good example of this from the book of Genesis.

Genesis 41:54 - And the seven years of dearth began to come, according as Joseph had said: and the dearth was in all lands; but in all the land of Egypt there was bread.

The word that is translated "lands" here is "aratsot", which is a Hebrew plural of "erets". This is the same Hebrew word that is used in Genesis chapter 6, whre it is translated "earth". If we interpret that the Hebrew word "erets" means "earth" or "world" in the sense of the whole earth, then I guess "aratsot", which is the plural of "erets" used here in Genesis chapter 41:54 is being used to refer to "earths" or planets.

If that is the case, then I guess the famine of Egypt wasn't just happening on Earth, but on all the other planets!
I guess them martians must of been making trips to Egypt to buy corn!

I think it is far more logical that the word "erets" in this case refers to lands, as in nations or regions of land, and not planets.

Genesis 41:55 - And when all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried to Pharaoh for bread: and Pharaoh said unto all the Egyptians, Go unto Joseph; what he saith to you, do.

Genesis 41:56 - And the famine was over all the face of the earth: And Joseph opened all the storehouses, and sold unto the Egyptians; and the famine waxed sore in the land of Egypt.

Here we see something similar to Genesis chapter 6. Just as the English stipulates that the flood was over the whole earth, so too the English suggests that the famine of Egypt was over the whole earth as well. Naturally there is no documentation in history to suggest that this ever occured, nor is there any documentation in the Bible to suggest such a thing. The context of the chapter suggests that there was a great famine in Egypt, and thus probably in neighboring lands. This can be documented through history, as well as in God's word. Thus, two witnesses to confirm the matter. I think the same case can be made regarding the flood of Noah back in Gensis chapter 6.

Speaking of which, lets go back to chapter 6......

Geneis 6:6 - And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

Again, forgive the mistranslation, it is Adam (not man) that is being spoken of here in the Hebrew.

Genesis 6:7 - And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

Now, many people read this verse right here and assume God's saying he's going to destroy every last animal that he created. However, we know that all animals were not destroyed, for we can look around, and see all the various animals our father created are still with us today. Same thing can be said for all the races of the people of the Earth.

Genesis 6:8 - But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.

What gave Noah grace in the eyes of the Lord ?


Genesis 6:9 - These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.

The Hebrew word translated "generations" is actually "Toldot", and it refers to physical offspring. The Hebrew word tranlsated "perfect" is "tamiym" in Hebrew, and it means "without spot or blemish", and when applied to children or a lineage it refers to a pedigree line. Thus, we see that Noah was "pedigree" in his lineage, both he and his offspring. This is important because the context of the chapter deals with the intermarrying of the fallen angels with the daughters of Adam. Thus, Noah obtained grace in God's eyes because neither he, nor his children intermarried with the fallen angels, or their offspring. This is why Noah and his family were chosen to continue on with the Adamic line.

Genesis 6:10 - And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

Noah, and his three sons make 4 people. Add to this list their wives and you have 8 souls, or the 8 souls which would be aboard Noah's ark.

Genesis 6:11 - The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.

Once more, the phrase "the earth" is "ha-arets" in Hebrew, and I think this would be better translated "the land", as in the land where the Adamic peoples lived at this time.

Genesis 6:12 - And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.

Many people who believe in the world-wide flood quote the phrase "all flesh", and say" Ah ha, this documents it destroyed everything. However, that would be pulling this portion of this verse right out of it's context. Within this verse both the phrases translated "the earth" is "ha-arets", and it would be better translated "the land", not the "earth" as a whole globe.

Genesis 6:13 - And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

Again, there we see "all flesh" again, but we know that all flesh of the earth was no destroyed, for I can look around and still see all the peoples of all races present today, as well as all the animals of the earth present. Once again, the phrase "the earth' is "ha-arets" in Hebrew and it's refering to "the land", not the whole globe. Thus, the "flesh" that was destroyed was the flesh that was within "ha-arets", or "the land".

Now, I'm going to stop here (at least for now), and wait to see what everyone else has to say in response. The rest of chapter 6 deals with Noah's ark, and the size thereof. I'll probably type more on that later, but for now I think what I've typed is sufficient.

I have heard many interesting hypothesis on the flood. Most recently, on a radio program, they said some planes in WWII had made an emergency landing on an arctic ice shelf and are currently under 140 feet of ice. Thus disproving the evolutionists saying the ice took millions of years to form. Their idea is that a world wide flood would bring on conditions of a quick ice age, as mentioned in Job, something about the cold wind from the north.
Another idea I heard some years ago, was that before the flood, there was a firmament in place around the world. They figured it was a layer of water a mile and a half thick. (Some people even believe it held fishes.) But they explained thru scientific study, that this would have increased the earths' atmospheric pressure by many times. This in turn would have increased the amount of oxygen in ones blood many times, which means a person could run for an entire day without getting tired. You would also live for hundreds of years, this would explain why we only use 1/10th of our brains today. If we lived to be almost a thousand years old, we would need all that extra memory storage space. I wish I could remember who did the study, it was on a Christian radio station show about 15 years ago. They had many examples of the effects of a firmament around the earth. God could have easily punched a hole in it with a meteor and it would have caved in on the earth, thus raining 40 days/nights. Ever see a bubble pop under super slow motion? It's pretty cool. If anyone can find out more on the effects of a firmament around the earth, please post more.

This already happened........it's called the "katabole", and it's what ended the first earth age.
