I grew up in St Louis, my parents were divorced when I was about 7 or 8 and my Dad and his new wife lived in Chicago. But Mom always made us go to Church as kids. I went to a Lutheran School until high school and we went to Lutheran Church Sunday mornings and a rip roaring Pentecostal Church on Sunday and Wed evenings. I have been a believer all my life and can honestly say I have always believed in Christ our Savior. Although I did loose focus some along the way here and there.

I was in the US Air force from 1984 until my birthday 1988 in March. I was an aircraft mechanic and my father had moved to California with my stepmother and their 2 kids. Lots of aviation jobs available in CA at that time, so after staying with my Mom in St Louis for a couple of moths and blowing most of my cash on (well, lets just say nothing of true value), I got on my Motorcycle and rode to California. It only took me a couple of weeks to find a job and start working. By this time I was so wrapped up in my life and where I was going that I was really not giving any time to our Father.

My Dad lived in Irvine and I was staying with him. I worked at the not so nice LAX. Long trip on a motorcycle everyday.

One day being the indestructible 22 year old that I thought I was, I decided to start splitting traffic on my motorcycle to speed my trip home on the famous 405 freeway through Long Beach. It was a legal maneuver but very stupid. Note that it is very interesting that this accident happened in Long Beach! What are the odds?

The awakening!

I found myself shifting left then right then left again through traffic and feeling like I had everything under control. That is until a Van in front of me had to slow down and as I was in a lean at the time, I could not slow down fast enough. I remember clearly saying here I come Lord and not being too sure of his reaction once I got there. Of course this was more frightening than the impact I was about to take. I ran into the back of the van with such force that I latter found my helmet and placed a 18-24 inch large dent in the corner of the van. I really do not remember much about the impact, but when I woke up, I found that I had hit the van in one lane, my bike was in the next lane to the right and I was in yet another lane to the right of the bike. I remember thinking how did I avoid getting run over, how did these cars all stop. It was 530 in the afternoon. When the police arrived, he said traffic was backed up for 5 miles because of this accident. All and all I did not end up in too bad of shape, I could hardly walk for a week and was really bruised and beat up. The only lasting reminder I have to this day are some knee issues. Which is a reminder and a blessing from God if you ask me. So latter that day still in shock from the accident and thanking God profusely for saving my life. Which I know he did. I started searching for the truths that I could never quite get my head around concerning the plan of God. I knew he was there, I knew what I was taught, I just felt that I needed to know more some how some way. I just had not found it up to this point and kind of stopped looking.

It was about a month later after coming home from a late shift at work that I turned on my new cable TV and there was Pastor Murray. Like all of us who have learned the mainstream way, I was skeptical at first, but knew something was right about it. Then I realized, hey this guy is actually helping me understand how to prove this stuff for myself. God pulled me from my deception one night a short time latter, which I will keep personal. So it is, I have had times when I have not been able to get SCN in the last (no way, 18 years), but my faith and belief is stronger than ever. Like all of us, I drift to a degree sometimes in the trials of life, but that drift is not far off center now.
A few years latter God blessed me with a wonderful Christian wife and now the best 2 kids on earth! Of course other parents may disagree.
