DOMINION
Protect the flock. There are many wolves in sheep's clothing. Use discernment and judgment. Do not overload another's donkey when planting seeds because then it is your fault if they strike out at you, but if they have no cause, then deck em. So use judgment in all things. You can't take care of the sheep if you can't take care of yourself.
2634 katakurieuo (kat-ak-oo-ree-yoo'-o);
from 2596 and 2961; to lord against, i.e. control, subjugate:
KJV-- exercise dominion over (lordship), be lord over, overcome.
It can be done in good ways or bad ways. You don't lead a flock by lording it over them. You teach in love.
Gen 1:27-31
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
The sixth day creation.
28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: (take charge, work it) and have dominion (not over each other) over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
You can take charge and work. Make the earth work for you. Take dominion over your profession. Strive to do better than anyone else. Be happy in your work and yourself and be pleasing to our Father by taking dominion over what you do.
Mark 10:35-45
35 And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come unto him, saying, Master, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall desire.
That is asking a lot. If you are really a lover of our Father you want it to be His will.
36 And he said unto them, What would ye that I should do for you?
What would you like?
37 They said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory.
Jesus sits at the right hand of God.
38 But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?
39 And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized:
40 But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give; but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared.
See Ezekiel 44.
41 And when the ten heard it, they began to be much displeased with James and John.
They didn't like the one-upmanship.
42 But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them.
Lordship-dominion. Rule it over them as in "dictator". If Jesus gives you authority don't let it go to your head. Be humble about it.
Those that aren't Christian lord it over people
43 But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister:
But you should not be that way. We are servants to all to minister to the needs of the people.
44 And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.
45 For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
(KJV)
Jesus came to minister, not to be ministered to. He is our example as he shows in the following verses.
Mark 10:46-52
46 And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.
47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.
He knew that out of the root of Jesse would come Messiah. He had to have know the scripture.
48 And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.
The people told him to be quiet.
49 And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.
All that multitude and Jesus calls this beggar.
50 And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.
He threw away the begging robe before he even got to Jesus. He had faith he wouldn't need it any longer.
51 And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.
52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.
(KJV)
It isn't who wants to be the greatest but how your faith is doing. Would you lord it over your fellow Christians who you are supposed to love? Are you a braveheart that knows when the enemy is near to protect that Christian and take charge?? Know the right of dominion over your enemy-satan and his evil spirits.
The common people in the world lord it over people. Be fair. Protect your people. Be gentle with them and don't lord it over them. Provide good pasture.
