As you can see these pests not only eat everything in their path they are hazardous
to your health. When you read this have in your mind we are the "trees of righteousness". We produce fruit (1st fruits) if you will. Most if not all
of these insects eat from fruit bearing or shade bearing trees.
Palmerworm:
Any of several caterpillars that injure fruit trees by feeding on their leaves, especially the small green caterpillar of the North American moth.
ETYMOLOGY:
From the way they suddenly appear in large numbers like a throng of pilgrims
Locust:
1. Any of numerous grasshoppers of the family Acrididae, often migrating in immense swarms that devour vegetation and crops.
2. The seventeen-year locust.
Cankerworm:
The larva of either of two moths (Paleacrita vernata or Alsophila pometaria), destructive to fruit and shade trees.
Caterpillar:
Caterpillars are the larval form of a member of the order Lepidoptera (the insect order comprising butterflies and moths). They are mostly phytophagous in food habit, with some species being entomophagous. Caterpillars are voracious feeders and many of them are considered pests in agriculture. Many moth species are better known in their caterpillar stages because of the damage they cause to fruits and other agricultural produce.
Caterpillar hair has been
known to cause certain health effects. All species have small hairs that can irritate the skin, both through direct contact and from airborne hairs. Often,
caterpillars produce venoms that are stored in these hairs as a defense against predators. Caterpillar species from approximately 12 families of moths or
butterflies worldwide can inflict serious human injuries ranging from urticarial dermatitis and atopic asthma to osteochondritis, consumption coagulopathy,
renal failure, and intracerebral hemorrhage. Skin rashes are the most common, but there have been fatalities.
Caterpillar hairs have also been known to cause kerato-conjunctivitis. The sharp barbs on the
end of Caterpillar hairs can get lodged in soft tissues and mucus membranes such as the eyes. Once they enter such tissues, they can be difficult to extract,
often exacerbating the problem as they migrate across the membrane
As we can see there are several different specie of these eaters.
Joel 1:12-13
|
The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, even all the trees of the field, are withered: because joy is withered away from the sons of men. |

13 |
Gird yourselves, and lament, ye priests: howl, ye ministers of the altar: come, lie all night in sackcloth, ye ministers of my God: for the meat
offering and the drink offering is withholden from the house of your God.
